Central Dalmatia
Deep canyons, wild currents, and the raw energy of the karst.
About Cetina
The Cetina canyon is one of Croatia's great natural dramas — a river that has spent millennia carving a path through the Dalmatian hinterland, creating vertical walls, emerald pools, and a microclimate so distinct from the coast twenty kilometres away that the two feel like separate countries.
For the active traveller, Cetina offers a range of experiences that move between the contemplative and the genuinely demanding: cycling through ancient olive groves on trails that follow the river, rafting through rapids that require both attention and trust, canyoning into sections of the gorge accessible only by rope and nerve.
The region around Omiš, where the Cetina meets the Adriatic, adds a further layer of history. The city was a pirate stronghold for centuries, its narrow canyon entrance making it impregnable from the sea. The fortress above the gorge still looks like it means business.
